Glassman Out

Yesterday it was announced that Greg Glassman is retiring as the CEO of CrossFit, to be replaced by Games coordinator and CrossFit OG Dave Castro.

At first look, this seems to be the justice many were calling for when a near 1,300 affiliated gyms chose to disaffiliate in protest over the last 48 hours. However, questions are still being raised regarding the whole CrossFit issue.

To the best of our knowledge, Greg is still the 100% owner of the company, which is a problem for people. Others are pointing out that Castro never denounced the things Glassman said, and are wondering if any real change is coming.

Personal opinion: I believe in the guy. He’s a hard nosed ex military guy, sure, but he loves CrossFit and the community, and I think he will be a fantastic CEO. The 100% owner thing is an issue, I get that, and I don’t have much commentary on that until more comes to light from the community. As of now, I think we at least can agree it’s a step in the right direction for the community we love.

What do you think?
