HQ Update: Greg Glassman The Monster

So it’s been a hot second since the racist comments made by Greg Glassman have come to light. He has stepped down, many affiliates have decided to stay, and many have decided to jet. The dust is still settling in that aspect.

On the other hand, Greg Glassman right now is the space ship you see in the movies that gets one little chink stripped from it and all of a sudden KABLAMEY the whole thing rips to shreds. This dude is a grade A asshole, and the gloves are finally coming off when it comes to those he has wronged. 

Apparently the scuttlebug around HQ is that people were surprised he stepped down on account of racist remarks, seeing as he was allegedly the scummiest of scumbags when it comes to sexual harassment in the workplace. Story after story is leaking out about this dude, speaking poorly about women, touching them, harassing them, threatening them, and blackmailing them. It even came out that the WiFi password at his house AND at an HQ office was, earmuffs here kids, “wetpussy”. 

WHAT. THE. HELL.

We always knew Glassman was the sole owner of CrossFit, but it never clicked that this meant he had no checks of power whatsoever. Nobody to report him to, nobody to complain about him to, nobody to stop him from what he was doing. Sure it sounds easy for someone to say, “well speak up, say something, do something”. The issue is that CrossFit is such a concentrated professional path, anyone who dedicated their lives to it is rather stuck in it since their professional development is so specific to the brand and the methodology. If they speak, they are fired, and then what? These women were trapped, and Glassman feasted from his position of power.

Fuck that guy.

I’m glad all of this is coming to light, and I’m sure we are just beginning. I urge the women he has assaulted and harassed to come forward, so justice can be achieved. I also hope CrossFit does the right thing here, whatever that might be. 

It’s clear, I believe, that Glassman has to go away, ALL the way, not just retirement.
