Mayhem Madness Moved, Games on the Brink
Covid appears to be ruining everything.
CrossFit Mayhem in Cookeville, TN has postponed their teams only elite competition from August 2nd until August 23rd. This is due to travel restrictions preventing a large quantity of the field from arriving and participating.
For those that don’t recall, this competition was a really neat idea brought about by the great and powerful Rich Froning, after the CrossFit Games announced that they were axing the teams this year due to, you guessed it, COVID-19 restrictions!
Speaking of the CrossFit Games, those dates have been bumped back twice, now holding onto hope of a September start date. CrossFit has sited the same reasons, of international athletes struggling to attend due to the world being on fire via COVID-19.
Guys. It’s not gonna happen. Neither of them. It sucks so hard, but we need to be realistic. While the rest of the world is tackling COVID-19 impressively down to near non existence, we are truly embodying the good ole American Dream here with the rona, get here, work hard, and thrive! And that’s exactly what COVID-19 is doing, thriving. It’s not going anywhere, not for a long shot and not for a WHILE. Believe me, I want the Games more than almost anyone, but if they continue to hope to get the full field of international competitors at the Games, just call it now and focus on next year.
What do you think they should do?
