Must Have Music #027

Nothing comes to a sleeper but a dream.
— Serena Williams

Dang. Welcome back tot he Must Have Music portion of our blog. So far, this has primarily been handled by me (Cam), as I love music. Especially when working out. And with a lot of the box drop-ins I’ve had over the years, I’ve noticed a HUGE, common problem between them all.

The music.

What gives?

A lot of boxes and coaches struggle with their playlists, and it’s been something I’ve discussed with them at length about. How are you supposed to find jams that will please everyone? Easy answer. You won’t. Pleasing everyone can be tiresome, cumbersome and a lost cause before you even plug your phone in to the speakers at the box. Everyone wants to listen to something different at the box, but at the end of the day, everyone wants the same thing. And that is a playlist that will get them moving.

And with all the casual CrossFit playlists out there on Spotify, it’s hard to tell what’s good and what’s not. Some are good, some are awful, but the sole purpose of these blog posts are to craft something that will work for you and your community.

We’re crafting a playlist designed to get people moving, which is always a plus when it comes to lifting at the box. Got a song you want to add to this playlist?

Shoot me an email at: cam@voyedgerx.com so I can add it to our Spotify playlist.

FIRE TRACK here by ZHU and Skrillex. It’s been a while since I came across a good Skrillex track and this song first came to me in the middle of crushing some morning emails and I immediately had to put this on repeat for a good 20-minutes.

It’s not the most action packed song, but one that once the beat drops in, you’re like, ‘OH DANG - WHAT IS THAT SOUND?’

It really was some bassnectar to it, and if you think this song is new….you are sadly mistaken. This song was released on November 9th, 2015 and has been out for almost five years. Dammit. Here I was thinking I came across a brand new Skrillex track, but nope. It’s been out forever.

Anyway, I can see this track being an awesome addition to your box’s playlist, especially if you’ve got some good bass at your gym. Add it to the mix, and submit one of your favorite tracks to our community playlist down below.

Let me know what else you got and what you think of this track down below.
