Workout of the Week - The Weather Outside is Weather

As the weather gets better and I slowly emerge from the workout cave that is the basement to do workouts outside, there are many more options on movements and that many more workouts to complete. Also nice that my grunts and groans do not reverberate off the walls and they are more dispersed over the neighborhood.

My habit lately is creating workouts that after round 1, I usually drop a round off of the end (“6 rounds?.....nah...5 will work today”). But I did come up with one that I couldn’t really do that and had to suffer through it.

For Time:

  • Buy-in: 1,000 meter row

Then:

  • 10-1 Strict Handstand Pushups (must be unbroken)

  • 1-10 Hang Squat Cleans (190)

    • 10 bar facing burpees after each round of hang squat cleans

The workout is definitely all about the hang squat cleans. The biggest rest is on those higher numbers of HSPUs since they are strict and unbroken. Better to wait a few extra seconds than miss on a round and have to start over. After that, the rest is when you finish. You can adjust the weight to what works for you but I would say you want to finish in about 35 minutes. It took me 40 minutes so I think I went a little bit too heavy on the cleans. Live and learn!
