There are a few “hot ticket” locations in the world right now, for sure. These places are labeled as such because they take the world by storm, tugging at the heartstrings of adventurers and world travelers to come discover its little known mystique. And Croatia is absolutely one of those places.
THE Where
Croatia is a country that can easily fly under the radar, an unassuming European nation tucked away in the labyrinth of the countries that surround it. To discover Croatia is to discover a hidden gem that has enough thrill for the adrenaline junkies, enough beaches for the bums, and enough history for the most intellectual of travelers. Everyone has something to love in Croatia, making it a must see destination on any traveler's bucket list.
Croatia is home to some of the most breathtaking National Parks in the world. Plitvice National Park is a wonderland of crystal blue lakes, connected by gorgeous waterfalls cascading from pool to pool. There are wooden walkways that wind in and out of these spectacular lagoons, giving you prime views of the majestic park around you. Krka National Park just outside of Split, Croatia is the perfect spot to go for a swim in the presence of yet another stunning set of waterfalls. It is situated on the Krka River, and is known for a series of 7 waterfalls. Nature trails will take you close to some of these amazing water features, like the Roški Slap, and the Skradinski Buk waterfall. Additionally tucked away in this park is the island of Visovac, home to the 15th-century Franciscan Monastery of Our Lady of Mercy. Clearly a lot to see in these amazing parks!

The water isn’t just for looking, either! In Krka National Park, you can take a plunge in the warm blue waters, standing to face to face with a stunning waterfall as you do so. This is truly a unique experience, not mention a great photo opportunity! If thrill is more your speed, the running waters of Croatia’s rivers provide ample opportunity for a fantastic white water rafting adventure. Cruise down one of the many rushing rivers in the country led by reliable guides through thrilling rapids twisting turns; it doesn’t get much better than that! Every once in awhile there is an adrenaline junky out there who looks at rapids and rafts as child’s play.
For him or her, perhaps the Stari Most is thrill enough. This gorgeous bridge stands about 80 feet tall and is a 16th-century Ottoman bridge in the city of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The bridge stretches across the river Neretva and connects the two parts of the city. Thrill seekers all over come to this ancient bridge to jump the 80 feet into the deep blue water below. Talk about a thrill!
Croatia’s National Parks and nearby rivers offer an aquatic adventure for people of all ages and abilities. That being said, if you are a self proclaimed beach bum, Croatia has it all. The towns of Split, Makarska, and Dubrovnik are home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe, and boast to have the bluest water in the world (bet you never knew THAT about Croatia!).
And listen, with the water....there's nothing like the fresh seafood in Croatia. With endless amounts of fish, squid, and the perfect blend of Greek and Italian cuisine, you'll never find a bad meal in Croatia...

This is truly an off the beaten path type trip and there's no place like this in the world....don't just take our word for it.
