What to Pack for Greece

However difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at.

So, you're going to Greece...

Greece in the summertime is an absolute dream. We're talking the stuff dreams are made of - and for good reason. The white buildings, pristine views, near-panoramic views and epic sights to feast upon, what more could you want?

Our Greece 2018 trip kicks off in just a few short weeks, and to help you prepare, we wanted to give you a short, concise packing list for what to bring. Keep in mind, if you think we missed something, please comment down below so people can see it!

As it is, here is our packing list....and yes, there will be ample opportunities to do laundry, so beware of overpacking!

OVERALL...

When I like to travel, I like to bring one SMALL suitcase and one daypack. If the trip is under 7 days, I usually just bring a duffel bag, but anything over a week, just bring a suitcase and a daypack (or backpack you can hike with). The point being, that you can leave the bulk of things in the suitcase and bring what you need with you to cool place. An extra shirt, new socks, camera, journal, charger, etc.

This trip, in particular, has a lot of moving around, and with all the transportation going on, you will NOT want to be packing more than you need. Please keep in mind you will have plenty of time and places to do laundry, and that Greece will be HOT, so you probably won't need as many clothes as you think. Plus, you're going to want to save room for all the souvenirs you might find along the way.

As it is, here are the average temps for all the places you'll be going....highs and lows.

  • Athens in August = 90 F (high) and 73 F (low)
  • Delphi in August = 84 F (high) and 61 F (low)
  • Meteora in August = 81 F (high) and 57 F (low)
  • Santorini in August 84 F (high) and 73 F (low)
  • Mykonos in August 84 F (high) and 75 F (low)

Also, the Greeks really appreciate you trying to use their language....test it out. Learn a few before you head out for the trip.

For the most part, be prepared, do not overpack, and be on time for departure. Having less to pack usually helps, too...oh! And always bring a copy of your passport (preferably two) and have one of each stored in your luggage wherever you go.

Pro tip: Do not bring cash (or Euros) to Greece. Even though they are rebuilding their economy, they do accept credit cards, and only take money out of ATM's. Do not use the airport exchange kiosks! They are rip-offs. You will get the best exchange rate through an ATM, guaranteed.

Also, alert your bank you will be traveling during the trip dates. You can usually set an alert for your Credit Card and Debit Card through your online banking. And don't bother with getting a data plan unless you have T-Mobile (it comes included!). The international plans from Sprint & Verizon are a total joke.

There is ample WiFi everywhere you go, but make sure to be social and not just staring at your phone the entire time! You have plenty of time to do that once you're back home. Interact, engage, have fun and make some new friends in some totally epic places.
