Welcome to Rome! The center of the world for over 1,000 years. The 'eternal city' echos with the whispers of its history and seduces the eye with its modern beauty. Rome wasn't built in a day, but we can guarantee it will not take longer than that to fall in love.
Arrive in the morning at the airport, where we'll be waiting for you to bring you straight to the hotel. The city offers us some of its most spectacular sites. See the ancient Pantheon and the grand ruins of the Roman Forum. Stroll through the Piazza Del Popolo, Navona and Venezia. Embrace the sights and sounds of these city centers in full motion. Get a more intimate look at the city through one of its smallest landmarks, the Aventine Keyhole. And finally, make a new wish as the light of the Trevi Fountain shimmers over your smile. You're in Roma! Time to take the streets by storm and see it all. Enjoy your first group dinner tonight with your family for the week!

Today we walk on hallowed ground. In the shadows of gladiators and genius. We tour the Colosseum, where the drama of life and death played out for over 300 years in a bloodbath of violence and entertainment. Listen closely and you can still hear the ancient crowd and the roar of the triumphant gladiator. Next, bear witness to the miracle of the great masters. The Vatican. Far more than home to the Catholic Church or the Pope, it is a showcase of the brilliance which was the Italian Renaissance. Witness Raphael, Michelangelo, and Botticelli in all their glory. Missing only Da'Vinci, the Vatican represents one of the greatest periods of western art in each of its magnificent evolutions. Our tours today will also include a visit to the Castle St. Angelo. This awe inspiring structure once served as the tomb of Roman Emperor Hadrian. It served as fortress, prison, and sanctuary. Beyond the Tiber, we will spend time in the Trastevere. Follow the narrow cobbled streets back into another time and place. A place of simple joys, a time of classic beauty.

Bid farewell to Rome as we hit the road, bound for the Bay of Naples and the town of Sorrento. Tucked away in its dramatic cliffs, Sorrento appears to cascade into the water. Pouring into the blue of the Mediterranean and a view only interrupted by the presence of a giant. Vesuvius. Get your first look today at the infamous volcano, brooding just offshore. Later in the trip we will get a whole lot closer and get a much better look at at its destructive handiwork. The ruins of Pompeii. Today, however, we explore the coast, and there is much to see. Those dramatic cliffs offer hiking and unbelievable views.
Poke around a local market and simply take in the smells. You are in Italy, a global culinary capital. Do not miss the opportunity to not just see this ancient town but taste it. Indulge in an included local meal in one of Sorrento's many local trattorias. And at night, allow for the gentle crash of waves to rock you to sleep. We are off to Positano in the morning!

Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone.
A tiny fishing village, Positano has become one of the largest draws to the Amalfi coast. Its simplicity is what lends most to its enduring charm. Be sure to sample the Limoncello and for the daring, seek out L'Albertissimo (an alcoholic tipple which can only be found in one small stall, in this even smaller town). Our journey next takes us to the town of Ravello. One of the final sanctuaries of the western Roman Empire.
It was founded in the 5th century as a shelter from the barbarian invasions. To this day, it remains a refuge for many to escape. Pop culture royalty such as Greta Garbo, Gore Vidal and Jackie Kennedy all found their way to Ravello. Today we discover what drew them in and make a few memories of our own.

The waters of this placid subterranean lake are the brightest, loveliest blue that can be imagined. They are as transparent as plate glass, and their coloring would shame the richest sky that ever bent over Italy. No tint could be more ravishing, no lustre more superb.
This morning we cruise across the Gulf of Naples to the fabled island of Capri. Approaching the Marina Grande you share a view with Emperors. Capri was THE destination for the Roman elite. Travel to Capri dates as far back as Augustus, considered the first Roman Emperor. So when in Rome .... vacation as the Romans did.
Once on island, we will hike its high rising mountain and stroll through the main town. See the ruins of one of Augustus's villas. One of the best preserved examples of ancient Rome. Then experience a sight which has awed Emperor and modern traveler alike. The Blue Grotto.
Once the exclusive swimming pool of Emperor Tiberius, today you can visit with the tides by boat. Many travellers have experienced the same awe as Twain, who first saw the grotto in 1869. Capri, and the grotto, is a special place and will come to redefine your understanding of the word.

Frozen in ash, today we uncover the ruins of Pompeii still preserved in its final moments. Lost to the ages after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D., Pompeii takes us back in time. Uncover its ancient architecture and the tragically beautiful artwork unearthed across the city. Fragmented buildings are not the only things left behind from this fiery apocalypse. Over 1,000 bodies are still preserved in their last instances of life. 100 of these bodies are now in casts to commemorate the souls which had once made Pompeii, Pompeii. After walking the streets of the famous city, stalk up the slopes of the imposing mountain. Climb to the crater rim of the immense Vesuvius and stare this beast in the eye. After clambering over the jagged lava rock be sure to turn around and observe a 360 degree view of the Bay of Naples. Take it all in, staring across the same world Plato had observed, before heading back to Rome in the early afternoon for our final group dinner before departure tomorrow.

Today gives us a chance to revisit all things you first fell in love with in Italy. Smile, drink, and laugh. In the afternoon, we ship out for home and say arrivederci to Rome. Which is not to say goodbye but "until we see each other again."
VoyEdge RX will purchase your train ticket back to Fiumicino (FCO) airport for today and from there, we wish you safe travels and a HUGE thank you for coming aboard this amazing tour with us! Ciao for now!

It’s 4:17 AM here in Europe and I’m currently 39,857 feet in the air at the moment flying over the Irish coast on my way to Frankfurt, where I’ll connect at 6:55 AM on my way to Rome....and of course I'm blogging. See my tips for being your, 'Best Self' while on vacation. Read more...
I was never renowned for my physical prowess. I had to work at it...and being super competitive it wasn't always easy. As a tour guide, the gym became my solace. My church. My outlet for too much booze and lack of sleep. Somehow I survived the madness of being a tour guide in Europe after college, but the key takeaway from my 2+ years there, was a life better lived through travel & fitness. Read more here...
Well here goes the initial blog post of Tony Beringer. Now what to talk about huh?
My heart says to get a little personal on this one for plenty of reasons but I won’t bore you with too much of that. I will just hop right into it as I do get a bit long winded when writing. This will be a numbered list and my goal is to keep it short, funny, and informative of not only what I want to accomplish as a co-founder of the company VoyEdge RX but also what I hope to accomplish as a person in the near and much distant future. Strap in as this could possibly be a riveting experience.
