Welcome to Reykjavik, Iceland! Home to some of the world's greatest natural wonders, and and the start of our weeklong journey here. You will most likely have arrived in the morning at Keflavik airport, so we will be there to greet you and ride back with you on the bus to check-in to the hotel! We will give you a few hours to freshen up before we head into town to do a walking tour and learn more about Reykjavik! From there, we will have an early group dinner before heading out on the town for a few drinks and to catch an epic midnight sunset!
Focus on having a swift arrival into Reykjavik! No matter what time you arrive, we will either be there, or have a bus ticket waiting and ready for you to take into town. The bus will drop you off at the hotel (will be in your trip departure email) and we will be there waiting for you! Feel free to arrive at ANY POINT on arrival day, and from there, rest up as you need, or feel free to hit the ground running. Plenty of optional things to do today, so relax, have fun, meet the crew, and let's get after it!
Day 2 kicks off with an optional early morning workout at CF Reykjavik, followed by an AM departure to Iceland's famous Southern Coast. In this epic excursion, you will stop at the legendary waterfalls of Skogafoss, Slejalandsfoss, as well as walk the black sand beaches of Vik. After our lunch stop at Vik, you will head to a nearby glacier that retreats in the summer to reveal an epic opportunity. With help from our mountaineering guides, you will strap on two ice axes, and learn to climb the glacier while attached to a rope. The group will then hike up into the glacier for some spectacular scenery, all while learning about Iceland's amazing ecosystem. Shortly after, we will return to Reykjavik to conclude an epic day!
Iceland is full of sheer awesomeness....and today you will experience it firsthand while touring through Iceland's Southern Coast. Prepare for a 10-12 hour day on traveling on a coach bus to some of Iceland's greatest attractions. The Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss Waterfalls, while also stopping in the town of Vik for a walk on the black sand beaches before heading on an ice climbing tour overlooking the Southern Coast. Dress warmly, and in layers, and prepare for a day unlike any other you've had. Breakfast is included at the hotel, as well as an optional ARM or PM drop-in to CrossFit Reykjavik!
Iceland has a ton of things to do. From renting a car, to setting sail out to the Westman Islands, puffin hunting (or seeing), to beer tastings, ATV rides, ice or lava cave explorations, and so much more, this day is for you. Take a look at some of the activities you can do, but feel free to enjoy an included breakfast, and optional drop-in at any point to CrossFit Reykjavik today! Or talk to your guides and see what they plan on doing. Or....if you're feeling adventurous...
You are going to want to plan this day ahead of time and book your activity on day one or two, but you can always choose something last minute. Yesterday was a big day, so feel free to sleep in, catch-up on the local cuisine, or rent a car and go and adventure on your own! Talk to the guides, and your other trip-mates about what they are doing and plan to tackle the day. You've got another big day tomorrow, so plan wisely! You're only in Iceland for the first time ONCE though....
Day 4 is another big, awesome day. With an included breakfast, the group will depart for one of Iceland's most famous tours, 'The Golden Circle.' First, you will see Thingvellir National Park, an ancient site where Iceland's tribes once gathered and forged the first parliament, and also where historic battles have been fought, won, and decided the fates of many natives to this magical country. You will see the continental divide and learn about the history of this magical place (and see some smaller waterfalls) before departing to the Strokkur Geysir, and of course, the Gulfoss Waterfall, which is now the main source of hydroelectric power for the entire country of Iceland. Finally, you will end the day by doing a 1-2 hour snowmobile tour on one of Iceland's largest glaciers - Langjökull!
Dress in layers! Today will be an AWESOME day, but definitely bring those wool socks and comfortable hiking boots. Today's tour will be A LOT of hiking, walking, and exploring of some of Iceland's most famous (and all must-see attractions) known as the, 'Golden Circle.' As a group, we will explore these amazing places, and then hit the snowmobile rental place where they give you a jumpsuit to wear over your coat and more. There are two people per sled, and you can either ride in the front, or the back, and please plan to share a sled, unless you want to pay more to upgrade and have your own. After the tour over the glacier, we will return to the bus and head back to Reykjavik.
Day 5 is a half-day tour on Iceland's Southern Coast where you can explore the crashed wreckage of the American DC-3 that crashed on the shores of Iceland after a failed training mission in 1972. You will partake in a short bus tour to the outfitter, where they will give you a jumpsuit and you can partner up to zip across the black sand beaches of Iceland's Southern Coast. It is a tour unlike any other, and you will be back in Iceland by the early afternoon after an adventurous day zipping across a space-like environment.
Day 5 will be our last full day together, so get stoked for an awesome day. Either way, plan your AM or PM drop-in to CF Reykjavik ahead of time, and get ready for an early departure to Iceland's Southern Coast where you will rent an ATV and partake in a 2-hour tour to explore some of Iceland's most incredible landscapes. They will provide some gear, but dress warmly and get pumped for an awesome day while seeing the waterfalls, crashed plane on the Black Sand Beach and so much more. After our return to Reykjavik, we will plan a group dinner and a night out to celebrate the last few days of our awesome tour!
Day 6 is our day to pack up, leave Reykjavik and head to the Blue Lagoon for the morning for a few hours before departing to the airport! Be sure to get some breakfast at the hotel before catching an early morning bus (9 AM) and sleep it off in the Blue Lagoon! One of Iceland's most famous attractions, too. It's the best way to relax before heading home. We will recount some of the memories from the trip and just R-E-L-A-X before hopping on our flights home.
It is your last day in Iceland! Soak in the Blue Lagoon and relax while recounting the memories from the trip. Share photos, recount memories, exchange information with your newfound friends, and just focus on relaxing in the Blue Lagoon! Realize where you are, what you are doing, and how unique of a moment this is before catching your flight home. You may leave your belongings in your locker at the Blue Lagoon, and get them when you are ready to catch the bus at 1 pm! Don't forget a big hug goodbye!
